Vito's family moved to Lake Charles in 1930 where he graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1945 and later enlisted in the United States Navy where he was an Aircraft Mechanic. In 1954 he married his wife, Barbara, and moved to Sulphur and later settled in Carlyss. Vito started his career at Conoco Refinery in 1953. After 35 years of service he retired from what is now known as Sasol. He was the 1st president of the newly formed Carlyss Lions Club in 1971. He served many years at the state and national levels. Vito was a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church for 55 years and also served on the Carlyss Water Works Board of Director’s for 34 years. After retirement he and Barbara enjoyed traveling around the world and being active members of the Lions Club and Krewe of Cosmos. They enjoyed spending time at their beach house with family and friends. Some of his other passions were gardening, dancing, playing cards, and going to the casino. Vito cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving & devoted wife of 67 years, Barbara O'Quinn Tramonte of Carlyss, LA; his children, Sandy (Karlen) Short of Scott, LA, Paul Tramonte of Carlyss, LA, Chris (Rick) Godare of Carlyss, LA; his grandchildren, Brannon (Bianca) Short, Richard (Kati) Godare, Michael (Erica) Tramonte, Ryan (Kimberly) Godare, Megan Tramonte and Morgan Tramonte; great-grandchildren, Gauge Short, Domonique Short, Brandon Short, Brendon Short, Stella Godare, Stoney Godare, Brylie Tramonte, Taylee Tramonte, Rylan Coker and two blessings on the way; his sister, Antoinette Wilkinson of Lacassine, LA; his sister-in-law, Dell Tramonte; numerous nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friend, Joe (Inez) Mansueto.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Frances Fieda Tramonte; his sister, Mary Ann Valenti; and his brother, Nicholas J. Tramonte.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss, LA. Rev. Trey Ange and Rev. Joseph Caraway will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur, LA under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 with a Rosary at 6 p.m. in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
