He was a native of Houma, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1977. Wayne was a member of First Christian Church and the Men's Golf Association of Sulphur. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He coached baseball, t-ball, football, basketball, and volleyball through the Sulphur Parks and Recreation for many years. Wayne was a jack-of-all-trades, a friend to many, and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Cyndy Lirette of Sulphur; his sons, Brandon Lirette, I, Paul Lirette, Jr. and wife, Meagan, and Devon Lirette, all of Sulphur; his siblings, Sandra LeBouef and husband, Mike of Houma, and Randy Lirette and wife, Eileen of Shriever, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Zakary Smith, Brandon Lirette II, Joey Lirette, Kinley Lirette, Kaleb Lirette, and Kara Lirette; and a great-grandson, Cameron Lirette. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rhea Ann Deroche Lirette; his brothers, Mark Lirette and Barry Lirette; and a nephew, Mike "NuNu" LeBouef.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, September 20, in First Christian Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Bobbie Yellott will officiate. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
