Helen Eunice Eash went to be with the Lord she loved and served faithfully on February 11, 2015. She resided in Pierce County during the last 22 years of her life, after retiring from missionary service in Venezuela. It was in Altagracia de Orituco, Venezuela, where Helen was born on September 9, 1932 to her parents, Arthur and Elin Peterson, pioneer missionaries to that land. After attending and graduating from John Brown University in Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree, Helen returned to Venezuela as a missionary to serve with the Evangelical Free Church in the founding of a Christian Day School. She soon met and married Harold Eash of the Orinoco River Mission and then transferred to his mission for two terms. After a short stint in Trona, California, where her husband pastored a church for a couple of years, the family returned to Venezuela with the Evangelical Free Church mission to help start churches. Helen’s role with the women and children and the music was invaluable. She was a very Godly and Christ-like servant of God and was loved and appreciated by all. Retirement began in 1993 as Helen and Harold made their home here in Pierce County, and soon became members of Elim Evangelical Free Church of Puyallup, where Helen taught Sunday School classes and Women‘s Bible studies as well as serving on the Missions Team for many years. Helen is survived by her husband Harold Eash, son Douglas Eash of Lake Tapps, son Darrell Eash of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sister Bernice Macmillan of Corona, California, and five grandchildren: Michael and Sarah, children of Douglas and Dorraine, and Andy, Caleb and Aaron, children of Darrell and Denise.
The memorial service will be held at Elim Evangelical Free Church, officiated by pastor Martin Schlomer, at 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 21. The church is located at 9421 128 Street E., Puyallup, Washington. For directions call 253-848-7900.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be given to support coming mission trips of two of Helen's grandsons. Andy is going to Costa Rica the end of March and Michael plans to go to Puerto Rico in June. Since missions and her gandkids were both dear to Helen's heart, she would rejoice at this. Please send all contributions to Elim Evangelical Free Church, 9421 128th St. E., Puyallup, WA 98373, and mark them for "Mission trips of Eash grandsons." And thanks so much.
