This dear, sweet, gentle, loving man was called to be one of God’s angels on July 4th, 2012. Henri Kahn Carnay was born in Dusseldorf, Germany on January 19, 1938. Shortly after his birth, he and his parents escaped to Swaziland, South Africa until about 1947, when they were able to immigrate into the United States, settling in Seattle. He attended Garfield High School. Henri was proud to serve in the Navy as a corpsman and loved talking to other military people about their service. He worked a while for Boeing, then started his own steam carpet cleaning business which was a success for over 30 years. In later years, he became a Master Gardener, as he loved working in his garden. Members of the Tahoma chapter of the Western Cascade Fruit Society and the Puyallup Valley Fuchsia Society will miss him, too. His kindness and generosity were felt by many. He leaves behind his wife, Renae, and his daughter, Joni (Frank) Paulson and grandson Trevor. He also had a step-son, Dan (Sara)Paradis, and two step daughters, Marcie Paradis and Julie (Brady) Crosslin, along with 4 step-granddaughters. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, July 11, from 4 to 8 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Sumner, and a memorial service Thursday, July 12, at 1 pm, also at Powers Funeral Home in Sumner.
