Born on May 21st, 1936 in Bismarck, N.D.
Passed Away on February 15th, 2011 in University Place, WA.
Jim Munger was born in Bismarck, North Dakota to Jack & Marian Munger, and worked as a personal assistant for his Grandpa J.A. Haigh, a North Dakota stocks & commodities broker. When Jim relocated to Washington State, he met and worked for George Baydo, and worked in Recreational Vehicle Sales for Richard Baydo at Baydo’s Trailer Sales for over 38 years; first in the Tri-Cities, Washington area, then later in Tacoma, Washington. Richard Baydo & Jr. Baydo were two of Jim’s best and lifelong friends. Jim was married only once in his life to his wife Lillian, and divorced in the mid-1970’s. Jim and Lillian had one son together, Brent Munger. Jim enjoyed trips to Mt. Rainier (Sunrise, Nisqually, & Paradise), Ocean Shores, WA., Pt. Defiance Park & Titlow Beach in Tacoma, WA., playing Bingo at B.J.’s in Fife, WA. and his greatest pleasure was playing his lucky keno numbers at his very favorite casino: The Red Wind in Yelm, WA.. Jim was a family-oriented person and was always excited about reunions and visits with his close loved ones. Anyone who ever knew Jim truly treasured his stories that he would tell of his youth, trips that he took with his Grandpa J.A. Haigh, and memories of his many friends throughout the years. Some of Jim’s favorite movies were “PICNIC”, “KEY LARGO”, “GONE WITH THE WIND”, “GIANT”, and “THE BRIDGES AT TOKO-RI”. The History Channels “PAWN STARS” & “AMERICAN PICKERS” were two of his favorite television shows. Jim liked chocolate cake, shrimp cocktail, and anything cooked by his mother Marian.
Jim is survived by his son Brent Munger (Puyallup, WA.), sister Marie Langevin (Tacoma, WA.), brother George Munger (Euless, TX.)and brother Frank Munger (Valley, WA.). Although there is no memorial service, Powers Funeral Home was helpful in posting an informational online obituary to celebrate and remember the life of Jim Munger. The surviving family members would like to thank The Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, Washington for their compassionate care, kindness, and understanding. A special thank you to Ryan Roening, and everyone at Powers Funeral Home, for making our families’ loss comfortable at a very difficult and sensitive time.
