Happily married for 54 years to his wife Viola (Vi), Jim also leaves behind his six children, Jim, Jeff, Jerry, Joan, Jon and Jennifer and four grandchildren Jestina, Jason, Madison and Kathleen. Retired Navy, and devoted family man, Jim lived his life in love and service to his family, country and community. He was loved by those who knew him for his sharp wit, candor and willingness to help others. He also had a passion for books and reading, and he was often found with a new novel close to hand.
In 1957 Jim married Mary V. Trevino, the love of his life, and they were soon blessed with a large family. His career in the Navy gave them all the chance to travel throughout the world, finally settling in Northern California for his last station at Moffitt Field. After his retirement from the Navy, Jim was caught up in the new boom of Silicon Valley, where he worked for a large semi-conductor company for the next 20 years. After his retirement from that company, he and Vi made the decision to move the family, and spend their retirement years in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Settling in Buckley, Jim and Vi soon joined St. Andrews Parish Church in Sumner, where Jim spent a great portion of his retirement working and serving the church and surrounding community. It was important to both of them to give back to the church and to the community that meant so much to them. When not getting lost in the pages of a new novel, Jim loved to spend time camping with his family, cooking, playing cribbage and watching sports.
His giving spirit, and quick wit, is lovingly remembered not only by his family, but also by those he worked and served with throughout his life.
A service to say goodbye to Jim will be held at St. Andrews Parish Church, 1401 Valley Ave. Sumner, WA 98390 on Wednesday, September 28th at 11:00 a.m. At the Families request memorial donations can be made to the Emmanual Food Pantry, C/O St Andrews Parish in Sumner 1401 Valley Ave, Sumner, WA 98390
