John Musto McLaughlin, 66, of Bonney Lake passed away on February 2, 2016 in Seattle, Washington. Born April 7, 1949 to Merle and Carol (Cleoudis) McLaughlin, he graduated from Evergreen High School and Pacific Lutheran University. He had advanced degrees from PLU that included an MBA and he was just short of completing his PhD. John worked at Weyerhaeuser for 31 years, beginning his career in the chemical industry. He also worked at Pioneer Chlor Akali, Univar USA, K.A. Steel; and most recently as a Relator with John L. Scott. When not working or spending time with his family, John liked to travel, help fix meals for families at the Ronald McDonald House and loved going on charity rides with his motorcycle group. He helped chaperone his Church Youth Group’s mission trip to West Virginia in 2012 with World Vision, where they helped 4 families by fixing their homes. An avid football fan, he enjoyed rooting for the Seahawks and Huskies. He loved classic 60's rock-n-roll, classic cars and after going thru College on a full ride baseball scholarship, he remained passionate about the sport and enjoyed telling everyone his stories and helping little league teams. John is survived by his wife, Denise (Smith) McLaughlin; daughter Missy (Adam) McLaughlin-Scholze, son, Jeff McLaughlin; stepsons, Jeremy and Nick Krouskop; stepdaughter, Rachel (Chris) Shaw and his grandchildren, Liam, Zoe, Courtney, Annabelle, Hayley, Zach, and Timmy.
John was an organ donor - through his generosity, two people now have the gift of sight and many burn victims can now be helped as well. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Hospital, or any other Children’s charity that may touch your heart. He was passionate about children so anything to help them will honor him.
