
John Shively, 82, of Puyallup, Washington, died on Saturday, August 14th, 2010. He was born in Forsythe, Montana on Oct. 23rd, 1927 to John D. Shively, Sr. and Margaret (Sivertson). John married Hazel J. Johnson in 1951. He was assistant principal at Sumner High School until 1986. John was graduated from Havre High School in 1945 and served in the armed forces for two years, based on the East coast and at Fort Lewis. He was employed by the FBI as court reporter, Standard Oil, and eventually joined the “family business” - teaching. At Montana State in Bozeman, he quickly earned a master's degree in Psychology and School Administration. In 1966 he received his administrative credentials at Western Washington College in Bellingham. John is survived by his wife, Hazel, brother Donald (Jean) of Cincinatti, Ohio; daughters Laurie, of Puyallup, and Kari (John Mathis) of Anacortes; and son Allan (Gretchen) of Seattle. A fourth child, Kirsten, died at birth in 1951. He also had eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services Wednesday Aug. 18, 2010 at 1:00 at First Presbyterian in Puyallup.
