Leonard Piccolo, age 90, of Puyallup, WA, passed away November 4th, 2012 at home. Leonard was born to Reno and Minnie Piccolo on February 26, 1922 in Portland. He lived with his parents in Cosmopolis, WA while he was growing up. He had 4 siblings, his brother Lester and his sisters Virginia, Violet, and Renalee. He worked in a machine shop with his dad when he was younger, and after high school he joined the Navy to help with the war effort and fought in World War II. After the war he married the love of his life, Beverlee, and graduated from St. Martins College as an engineer. They lived in Tacoma, raising a family of 3. They had 2 sons and one daughter (Kris, Pat and Kathie). He worked and retired from St. Regis pulp and paper mill. He also worked as a volunteer fire fighter and retired from that as an assistant chief. All his children married and they enjoyed numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1984 they sold the farm, as they called it, and moved to a smaller place in Puyallup. He loved his daily trips with his wife to the foothills of Mount Rainier to hike, cut firewood, and pick wild mushrooms. He did this until his health declined in his mid 80's. He loved his homemade wine as his father did. He shared his skill with his son, who continues the tradition today. There is a viewing at 4:00, followed by a vigil at 5:00, on Friday, November 9, 2012, at All Saints Catholic Church in Puyallup. The funeral is Saturday, November 10th at 10:00am at All Saints as well, with a reception to follow. The graveside will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Fife, WA at 1:00.
