

Patricia Dawn Baker was born April 4, 1940 in Los Angeles, CA to Ethel and Gray Pearse. The family moved to Sumner in 1945 where she graduated High School. Soon after, she married, had 2 children and worked at Pacific NW Bell for 9 yrs. She then went on to Univ. of Puget Sound receiving a BA and MA in Education, then later, her principal’s credentials from Seattle Pacific Univ. Her career in education spanned 23 yrs. beginning as a teacher, then in staff development for Bethel School district, then on to accepting a principal position in the White River School district where she worked for 10 yrs. While retired, Pat volunteered as secretary of the Sumner HS Alumni Assoc., liaison for Washington PAVE, and in her daughter’s classroom for special projects. In 2004 Pat and her husband, Frank moved to Surprise, AZ. Here, too, she volunteered her time, heading a writing group where they worked on writing their life stories and was a board member of her community’s HOA. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bryan Alan and her husband Frank. She leaves behind, brothers; Barry (Diane) Pearse, Terry Pearse; daughter, Debra(Rick) Lane; son, Joseph (Kathy) Brown; grandchildren, Amber Curtis, Brooklynn Brown and great-granddaughter Kayla Abbey. Also survived by step-children; Vicky Ireland, Greg Baker; step-grandchildren, Matt and Jeff Ireland, Chris and Jenny Baker. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sumner HS Alumni Assoc. Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 452, Sumner, WA 98390. Funeral service for Pat will be at Powers Funeral Home, 15124 Main St., Sumner, WA on Thurs. Nov. 12th at 11 am with visitation beginning 1 hr. prior to service. A graveside service will follow at Sumner City Cemetery.
