Sharon Joy Glaser, 77, of Orting, Wa passed away on September 18, 2017. She was born on April 14, 1940 in Longview, Wa to Eugene and Eva (Green) Craig. A Puyallup High graduate she was a retired care giver. Throughout her life Sharon’s love for people and her generous heart became the centerpiece of her life. After high school she married Jerry Smith, and soon began beauty college. She enjoyed making friends and her family feel their best. For most of her life Sharon worked in the nursing field, primarily with the elderly. Through her work at numerous homes, including the Orting Soldiers Home, she was well known for her devotion to patients. With a loving hand and with true empathy she always went well beyond the call of duty. During her school years she enjoyed playing the violin with her brother Gary, and the others in her musical family. Her paternal grandfather was a talented violin maker, so everyone in the family had their own custom made violin and everyone in the family played the violin. Making beautiful music with the family was a demonstration of how important family was to Sharon at a very early age. She is survived by her husband, David Glaser of Orting, sons, Jerry and Medina Smith, Terry Smith, Casey and Julie Smith, Jake and Niki Smith, Gary Glaser and Mike and Nanette Glaser; daughters, Nickie and Clint Covey, Alicia and Richard Britz and Roxanne Love and Tom Dorgan; brothers, Gary, Matt and Mark Craig; sister, Starr Blue, 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; along with her dear friends, Lola Wood and Brenda Marquez. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her late husband, Gerald Smith, son, Randy Glaser sister, Shannon Craig, and niece, Michele “Sis” Blue-McKnight. Additionally Sharon had a large extended family, opening her home to countless people, often placing the needs of others above her own. There will be a time of visitation at Powers Funeral Home in Sumner Washington from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Friday, September 22, 2017. Family meant everything to Sharon. She was the bedrock of her entire family. Her children were a great source of pride and comfort. Sharon was eternally standing by to give support in any way possible. Sharon’s passing will leave a major absence in everyone who was blessed to have her in their lives.
