Tom passed away peacefully in Puyallup on January 9th after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Dawn of Puyallup; their two children, Steve (Kasey) Samons of Tacoma, and Penni (Sean) Vasquez of Clovis, CA; four grandchildren, Dylan, Samantha, Johnathan and Abby, his sister, Mary Kay Howe and many extended family members. Tom was born in Spokane to Mel and Kate Samons. He grew up in Cheney before settling in Puyallup. Tom spent 41 years in the medical industry with stints at the University of Minnesota, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and at St. Joseph’s Hospital as the Cath Lab Supervisor. Tom was a member of the US Coast Guard, The Puyallup Eagles and the Sons of the Highway Men Car Club. Tom enjoyed RV’ing, motorcycles, classic cars, telling a joke or a story and being the life of the party. Many times he was overheard saying “Let me know if I have told you this one before”. Tom loved his family and friends deeply and will be missed more than words can say. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 23rd, 2016, when the sun can shine and the classic cars can come out. Details will be published as the date draws near.
