Winnie Johnson passed on to heaven at the age of
97. She was born at home in Yonkers New York to
Harry Burton and Elizabeth Hughes Burton.
Winnie was the youngest of S children, Brothers
leslie, Harry, Dick and Sister Dorothy. She married
Robert Johnson in 1941 and was a loving wife to
him for almost 64 years. Winnie graduated Suma
Cum Laude with a SA and then MA degree in
Education, She taught in elementary school for
many years. Winnie was proficient at many
hobbies including crochet, ceramics, painting,
bead work, and needlepoint. She enjoyed travel
and joumallng. Winnie wrote a book called
Memories of Years Gone 8y for her children. She
was very proud of her published book "Journal of
an Alzheimer's caregiver" which chronicled the
difficulties of caring for an ailing spouse. Winnie
was active in her church and dedicated to her
faith. She is preceded in death by her beloved son
Paul. She is survived by her 3 daughters and their
husbands. Pat and Bob, Phyllis and Ed and Pam
and Chuck. She loved spending time with her
family and especially the young children who were
blessed to have so many years with her being an
active part of their lives. Winnie had 9
grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5
creat·great grandchildren.
