Berma Helen Dudley was born July 19, 1935 to Oswald and Helen Barsten on a farm near Oakes, North Dakota. Berma departed this life to walk with the Lord on January 19, 2018. She is survived by her daughter, four stepdaughters, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
On December 3, 1955, Berma was married to Donald A. Olson. To this union two children were born: Randy in 1956 and Loyce in 1959. As a farmer’s wife, Berma enjoyed the variety of activities found on a farm.
On July 21, 1978, Berma married Thomas Dudley at Oakes, ND. When Tom retired from the Soil Conservation Office in 1981, they moved to their lake home on Silver Lake, near Battle Lake, MN. Then in 1983, Berma and Tom were called to the mission field in Sierra Leone, West Africa, where they served two years, assisting at a Girls’ Secondary School in Moyamba.
In 1985, Berma and Tom returned to the states settling in Sun City, AZ. She attended Northern Arizona University and received her Bachelors. After completing her degree, Berma worked for the Phoenix Union High School District and retired in 1996.
Tom preceded Berma in death on January 7, 2000.
Berma enjoyed reading, working to complete family genealogies, helping others, and serving the community. She is preceded in death by her son, Randy Olson, her parents and siblings Oswald Jr., Wilton Barsten, and Beatrice Hanson.
