To the family of Bettie.... I'm so sorry I'm just learning of her passing. Bettie was such a great neighbor to my mom Virginia. After my mom passed my daughter kept asking to visit Bettie. Every time me drove through Sun City I'd hear a voice from the back seat saying....."Bettie?"  We loved your mom so much.  We'd stop to visit as often as we could.  She was always happy to see us and catch us up on her life and the other Bolivar neighbors... We will miss her.  Lavona, Greg, Jenelle

While I have been in many poker games and around questionable people in the military, nobody I had met previously, could hold a candle to my Aunt Bettie. The woman was a Card Shark! She would laugh, all the while beating you!  She always made me feel comfortable and like I belonged. From teaching me to play Farkle, throwing out a serious salmon patty dinner, to showing Tracie and I around Seattle & Phoenix, she could do it all.

There are so many reason I loved ABettie, her bling!! Totally cool!!! Always looking fab while cooking well after she'd get up and get dressed for the day, priceless! I know we all have same memories but the one very important thing for me and my family was she insisted that Don , her nephew, come to Seattle for a 2and Opinion! when we found out he had cancer.  For that we had 20 some more years with him,  and if she hadn't pushed me and him, things would have been so different. Thank you so much ABettie!!! Then we 3 had lots more adventures  and enjoyed every minute. All Don's friends called her ABettie frim Seattle and loved her as much as we did!

Mrs Milner’s energy, enthusiasm and passion for life was unlimited. It was always a joy to be around her and her family. She was a dedicated wife to “Howie” and mother to Lynne, Greg & Brad.  I’m sure many would agree she was a mother figure to so many of us who frequented the Milner house over the years.  She was always kind & caring of others and made you feel welcomed yet never expecting any credit for her generosity. 
        I’ll remember many wonderful times in “Bettie’s”company especially the many basketball games in the Milner’s driveway. Also having her loyally cheering on the many sporting events win or lose, rain or shine over the years. Another great memory was several shared vacations in Reno/Lk Tahoe with her family and many friends. 
    While I wasn’t able in any way to match  her love or skill of fishing I count it a blessing having “once” tackled the Columbia Bar in a charter boat. This experience thanks to an invitation from “Bettie “ & her family. 
   One other special link & memory I will cherish is that Bettie shares a Birthday with my own mother as well as Bettie’s son Greg who has been my friend since 7th grade.
    What a wonderful life well lived, God bless Bettie.

I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Bettie.  She was quite the lady and fisherwoman.  Mother and Gary loved to go out fishing at Westport when we were on our Seattle vacations.  I had saved my money to go out fishing because Pam had the cutest bait boy the year before.  Lynne and I were so excited!!!  It was a real rough day.  I got so sick.  Aunt Bettie told me to go eat something and Mother told me to go to the other side of the boat.  We could always count on Aunt Bettie to catch plenty of salmon, sole, and sea bass.  It always tasted so good.  She was such a wonderful cook, best cookies ever!  She was the best tour guide.  She filled our summer vacation activities in and around Seattle. She was also instrumental in helping forge lifelong friendship and love between our Kansas and Seattle families.
When we came to see her in Arizona, she showed us all around.  What fun and laughter we all shared.  When we got home, it was time for her specialty; her famous margaritas.  Another thing I loved was her smile and her soft laughter.  We got both of these when we played cards.  I don’t want to say she ever cheated, so I will say she changed the rules from time to time.  I loved how Aunt Betty always cooked with her apron on.  She always looked as special as she was.

I’m so grateful for Aunt Betty suggesting that Donnie go to Fred Hutch for his cancer treatment.  She and Uncle Gene opened there home to us and were such a blessing.  
I will never forget my sweet, kind, and fun Aunt Bettie.  She has left me a lifetime of great memories and I will keep her in my heart forever. 
We will love you always and forever!

Every memory I have about Aunt Bettie is happy.   She was always up for anything, had a plan, but could roll with the punches.  All of the Seattle family dropped everything in their busy schedules when we came to visit to make our time there so special.  As I have grown I realize what a sacrifice that was for all of you and it means more to me now than it even did then. I am so grateful that my kids got to know Aunt Bettie, as she was the only link to my grandparents generation.  My oldest Makinley and her really had a great relationship and I am so grateful they got to have that bond.  Aunt Bettie had a great life and will always loved.  Love the Cook Family.

There are so many wonderful stories, memories, and qualities about Aunt Bettie that have impacted life. Many of my best life experiences were shared with her.  Aunt Bettie had impeccable style, class, and lived life to the fullest without taking anything for granted. I always love to wear an apron while cooking because of her and my Gram. We shared so many wonderful conversations; more laughs, and card games than one could count. So many times when I put something in a zip lock bag and mark it with a black sharpie I giggle because I watched her do that so many times. Tracie and I called her Queen Bettie because that’s just how we thought of her.  My dad would call her Lady Lime because her love of green and the way she could pull that color off flawlessly. Out of all the amazing trips and wonderful life experiences she had, the most proud accomplishment was her family. She loved all of her kids and grandchildren with everything. Aunt Bettie was a remarkable woman and I'm so grateful for our special relationship. We will always love and miss her dearly.

It’s been hard to narrow my memories of time with Aunt Bettie as I have thought of her the past few days her cooking has come to mind often.  Her chicken and home made noodles, her enchiladas on warm  Plates hot out  of the oven, her salmon patties, corn beef , to name just a few.   She always made cooking look so easy.  
And then the gift of staying in her home when our son Delt spent time in Seattle for his bone marrow transplant.  Word cannot express how special she was to our family. I have been Blessed to have had her in my life and she will be missed 

Lovely lady thoroughly enjoyed in our short time of connecting. So glad to have seen her smiling face at volleyball matches.

What a cool Lady! Aunt Bettie's ability to organize an entire week of thrills, exploring, meals,  and expeditions was only matched by her wit, amazing stories, and ability to look flawlessly put together.  You don't meet many women these days, who have it all.  Aunt Bettie was a Queen among us. She could work a room, a dance floor, a kitchen, or a fishing dock, all the while looking like a  Chico's ad. Aunt Bettie was someone you could call and discuss big life items, such as a move, or a marriage. She always gave sound advice and gave you a different way to look at things.  Her perspective, incredible zest for life, and interest in so many different things, definitely gives us goals to strive for.  She gave meaning to "sometimes you just gotta chase a good time." Her ability to be  up for anything is a lesson to us all.  I love you Aunt Betty.  

It was the summer of 1969 when my girlfriend invited me down to her house to meet her family who was visiting from Seattle, Washington.  That’s when I met Uncle Gene and Aunt Bettie.  We became instant friends.  A few years later when I became a member of the family we got to spend time together again.  I knew that I had a lot in common with her and we could easily be around each other and enjoyed spending time together.  When Pam and I took our first vacation, Seattle was a no brainer.  I will always remember how kind and welcoming she was to me and how much fun we had sight-seeing, camping, and organizing family dinners.  It truly was a memorable trip; the first of many.
As time went on I watched Aunt Bettie deal with tragedy, a move to Arizona, and old age.  All of these things were handled with Aunt Bettie style and grace.  Because of her influence Pam and I began spending time in Arizona.  We truly enjoyed the time we had with her. Besides being fun, we valued her advice and prospective on matters.  She was blessed not only with knowledge but great common sense, and not afraid to express her true feelings on things. I will remember our visits and our laughs and of course the dinners she proudly served.  Man could she cook.
Because neither my Dad nor Mom had any brothers or sisters, I had no Aunts or Uncles.  With Aunt Bettie I truly found my Aunt.  I will miss her and be ever grateful of her presence in my life.  She was the kind of person I could truly be proud to call my friend and my Aunt.

There are so many amazing memories I have with aunt Bettie! One of the best was our trip to Arizona when my Papa Don Lindsey (her nephew) took us there for a trip. We all stayed at aunt betties and played so many card games, fun dinners and just hanging out. She was one of a kind and although she was my Great Great aunt, I felt like I knew her pretty well. Sending love to you all. A remarkable woman who will be remembered as such 💕 another fun story and I must dig up the picture but hayden and I loved her so much and she cake for a visit to Kansas one night we decided to get artsy and start drawing portraits... who did we decide to draw? Well we drew aunt Bettie and her great style. 

Aunt Bettie was the most incredible, fun, and special Aunt anyone could ever have.  Her zest for life, love of travel, and strong sense of family has had an impact on all of us.  Her example of how to treat family and friends has inspired us all. Our heads and hearts are so full of happy times spent with my grandparents and family. 
 Our family spent about a month each summer with our Seattle Family.  These visits were filled with camping at the ocean and in the mountains, family dinners, and activities that were filled with laughter and fun.   She made the effort to help with family events, and make sure all the family could attend and take part.  She had a knack for making sure everyone was included in vacation activities.  Whether it was enjoying her homemade ice cream topped with her famous hot fudge topping, playing cards, or just being together, we all had a great time.  
Aunt Bettie was always interested in what we were doing.   She had a special bond with our children, grandchildren, and family friends.  Her positive attitude and energetic approach to life was a blessing to all of us.  She leaves each of us with wonderful memories, a sense of what it means to be a family, and a legacy of love.  
Aunt Bettie, you will be so missed, but know you will always be in my head and heart.

 I found it impossible to totally reflect on how much Aunt Bettie has meant to me and everyone throughout her 93 plus years of a life well lived! However, I believe it is better exemplified by the love and admiration she garnered from all of us lucky enough to be her family or friend! She accomplished this through her love of family and again her joy of living a fun filled life.

I have countless wonderful memories of family vacations spent in Seattle as a child and young adult. Aunt Bettie and the entire Milner family made these visits absolutely tremendous! We had so many adventures to include camping, fishing, swimming, amusement parks and so many more but all centered on Family and led or organized by Aunt Bettie! Even when the adventure didn’t go exactly as I had planned Aunt Bettie was there to assist, like my last deep sea fishing trip in 1988. It was the first time I had ever gotten sea sick and for anyone that has experienced this will understand why it was my last deep sea fishing adventure! But as I stated, Aunt Bettie was there for me as she gave me a cracker and directed me where to lay down on the boat out of sight of other fishermen so not to interfere with their fun experience......LOL. In true Aunt Bettie tradition the boat limited quickly which was a real blessing for me because the boat was able to return to great Mother Earth sooner!

Aunt Bettie will be forever loved and missed but I too will cherish all the wonderful memories!
