Burton Lee “Burt” Blasingame, 95, of Sun City passed away November 16, 2021. Burt was born on September 17, 1926, in Woodward, Oklahoma to Leroy and Grayce (Gaines) Blasingame. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as well as the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln with a degree in business administration.
His career focus was on the banking industry for more than 30 years, starting out as a bank examiner and ultimately working as regional director for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), overseeing banks in the Midwest. Upon his retirement, he moved his family to sunny Sun City, Arizona.
Burt was unwavering in his faith and served in different capacities at Bellevue Heights Baptist Church including the stewardship department, as an auditor and part of the team that established the columbarium at the church. He loved his family deeply and they thoroughly enjoyed entertaining at their home in Nebraska and later in Arizona. He quickly learned to appreciate the Italian way of doing things!
He was predeceased by his wife Luigina “Gina” (Narduzzo) Blasingame in 2014. Burt is survived by his beloved daughter Lisa (Bill) Cassidy of Phoenix, AZ; cousins Janet Blasingame of Perryton, TX; Michele (Robby) of Austin, TX; Stacy (Robert) Layton of Seminole, TX; Mike (Janet) Blasingame of Perryton, and their families; and nephew Gary Leavitt of Gladstone, OR. He is also survived by many wonderful friends and loved ones in Arizona, Nebraska and throughout the United States.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 5:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351. The Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Friday, December 3, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Sunland Memorial Park. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bellevue Heights American Baptist Church, 9440 W. Hutton Dr., Sun City, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, Burt’s daughter would be grateful if memorials be made to one of these organizations: Bellevue Heights Baptist Church, the American Legion-Sun City, the Arizona Humane Society or St. Mary’s Food Bank.
