

Don loved life and lived it to the fullest. He married the love of his life, Harriett Kiser Creed, on Aug. 4, 1956. They settled down in Kalamazoo, Mich., had three children, Susan, Nancy, and Steve. Two years after Harriett passed away in November of 1990, Don moved to Sun City and embraced the retirement community life with gusto. He was a member of several dance, social, and travel clubs, was an active parishioner at Sun City Christian Church, and worked as a volunteer at Banner Boswell Hospital.
Don loved to find and shop at estate sales and always came home with a bargain. He also was an artist and enjoyed sculpture and woodworking. Don explored the Phoenix area and the entire state of Arizona, making friends everywhere he went. He was a great conversationalist, always had a smile on his face, enjoyed meeting new people and making friends.
He was born on May 27, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Carl W. and Mary Moss Creed. He graduated from Hubbard High School and attended Ohio University from 1948 -1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 – 1955 and was stationed in Alaska, prior to statehood, and was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant. Don began working for John Hancock Life Insurance Company in 1955 and was an office supervisor. He retired in 1984.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Harriett, daughter Susan, parents, Carl William and Mary Moss Creed, and sister Marguerite Ramsay. He is survived by his daughter Nancy (Mike) Huddleston of Burnsville, Minn., son Steve (Lisa) Creed of Portage, Mich., and son-in-law Douglas Neilson of Battle Creek, Mich.; grandchildren Mike Jr. (Samantha) Huddleston of Olympia, Wash., Andrew (Stephanie) Huddleston of Burnsville, Minn., Elayna, Lukas, and Rebecka Creed of Portage, Mich.; great-grandchildren, Dean, Nora, Bennett, and Noelle Huddleston; special friends, Anna Lambert and Stan Goc of Sun City, Ariz.; friends at Maui Care Home, where he lived for the last two years of his life, and his loving caregivers, especially Livia and Steve Cristan and Ligia Gruna.
Memorials are preferred to Banner Hospice Services. A remembrance service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Maui Care Home, 7736 W. Maui Lane, Peoria, Ariz. Interment will be at Fort Custer Military Cemetery in Battle Creek, Mich., at a later date, with family and friends in Michigan.
