Carmellia Lenore Leonard-Swain. Born June 9, 1934 in Grant City, Missouri, but spent the most of her life in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was a 1952 graduate of Lafayette High School in St. Joseph. She was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and attended the Penn Street Branch and the Summit Avenue Branch while living in St. Joseph. Since 1995 she was a regular attendant at Community Church of Joy in Glendale, AZ. In 1980, Carmellia moved to the Valley of the Sun - Phoenix, Arizona. There she worked as an insurance claims adjuster for 15 years, then acted as working owner/manager of Carmellia’s Cheese House in Sun City, AZ from 1995 until she sold the business in 2002.
Carmellia was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Edna (Fletchall) Leonard, a sister Shirley Janice Leonard, and a brother Kensel Jay Leonard. Also preceding her in death were first husband Donald Binnicker and second husband Donald Webb and her husband Calvin Swain. She is survived by her son Leonard Wayne (Julie) Binnicker of Cave Creek, AZ; her daughter Ellen (Craig) Roberts of Surprise, AZ; her grandsons Nathan Craig Roberts of Phoenix and Jared Wayne Binnicker of Tampa, FL; as well as her step children Ron (Denise) Swain, Debra (Brad) Adams and Shirley Wingard.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 11:00am at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. The burial will follow at Sunland Memorial Park. To send condolences to the family please visit www.SunlandMemorial.com
