

Charles Wessley “Wess” Maupin was born June 28, 1947 to Jack Maupin and Mary Bursel Maupin at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. He attended J.B. Sutton Elementary School and graduated from Carl Hayden High School in 1965. Wess enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966. After training at MCRD San Diego, CA, he was stationed in Millington, TN and then Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, SC.
On February 4, 1967, Wess married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Engstrom, in Phoenix, AZ. They lived in Beaufort, SC until Wess was sent to South Vietnam in 1968. He was promoted to SGT while serving in Danang and returned home in 1969. He was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, AZ until the end of his enlistment in 1970. Wess and Pam moved back to Phoenix where he worked for his father at Maupin Plumbing and Heating. On March 22, 1971, Wess and Pam had their son, Barry Allen Maupin. He was and has always been the pride of their lives. Wess eventually started Grandville Plumbing and Piping and operated that until he was forced to retire in 2022 due to his illness.
Wess was fiercely protective of his family and friends and would do anything in his power to help them. He fought his illness long and hard and was looking out for others until the very end. Wess is now at peace and with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wess is survived by his wife, Pam, his son, Barry, and daughter in-law Lynn.
Charles Wessley Maupin with be placed at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Memorial Service will be held on January 26th at 11am at Christ’s Church of the Valley - Avondale. 1565 N 113th Ave Avondale, Az. 85392
