Christine Ann Reed was born as Christine Ann Laubinger to Ernest Laubinger and Marianne “Kopp” Laubinger on September 9, 1953 in Sacramento California. Christine resided in Sacramento California with her parents and siblings, Ernie Laubinger, John Laubinger, Sandra Laubinger and Linda Laubinger. She graduated from Norte Del Rio Highschool in 1971 and earned her Associates Degree from Sacramento City College in 1976.
Christine married the love of her life Timothy “Mac” Reed on August 24, 1975 in Reno, Nevada. They were married for twenty-five years before Mac proceeded her in death on November 11, 2000. They had two children, Brian Reed and Megan Reed and three living grandchildren, Dillon Reed, Caleb Reed and MacKenzy Dunn. Christine and Mac traveled through their marriage due to Mac’s military service, living in Sacramento, California; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Bellevue, Nebraska. Upon Mac’s passing, Christine returned to Sacramento, California where she lived until her relocation to Maricopa and then Surprise, Arizona around 2012.
Christine found joy in her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren was her favorite thing. Christine loved spending time with her sister Sandy as they had a shared love for baking and each other. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to bake and do arts and crafts, attending their sporting/school events as well as taking them to the movies, bowling or anywhere they wanted to go. She loved having her grandchildren stay with her for long periods of time over the summer just so she could spend as much time with them as possible. She also enjoyed doing weekend projects with her son, Brian and shopping and spending time at the spa with her daughter Megan and granddaughter MacKenzy and catching up on all the new Hallmark Christmas movies and watching HGTV with her daughter-in-law, Shannon. Christine was an avid Nebraska Husker fan always sporting her favorite Husker gear on Saturdays during football season and settling down to watch football and volleyball with her family. Christine also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Christine worked as a clinical research coordinator initially in the allergy clinic and moving into cancer research, which was her passion at Creighton (St. Joseph Hospital) in Omaha, Nebraska, UC Davis Med Center in Sacramento, California and The Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. Christine was so dedicated to contributing to cancer research that she continued work long after her ALS diagnosis in 2023 and even once she was wheelchair bound and confined to her home, she continued working for the Mayo Clinic as an auditor up until her death. Christine’s legacy will live on through her tissue donations through the Donor Network.
Christine was diagnosed with ALS in 2023 but didn’t let that slow her down. She used all her strength to keep her limbs working and stay as active as she could for as long as she could. Christine was called home on September 1, 2025, just days before her 72nd birthday. She passed peacefully surrounded by love and holding her children’s hands. She will be missed by her family and loved ones every day. Christine’s family finds comfort in knowing that her and Mac are spending their fiftieth year of marriage together.
Christine is preceded in death by her husband Timothy “Mac” Reed, parents Ernest Laubinger and Marianne Laubinger, brother Ernie Laubinger, niece Fallon Johnson and grandson Donovan M Reed. Christine is survived by her children Brian Reed (Shannon Reed) and Megan Reed, grandchildren Dillon Reed, Caleb Reed and Mackenzy Dunn, siblings John Laubinger (Colleen Laubinger), Sandra Yien (Steven Yien), and Linda Laubinger and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
