Clarence William (Bill) Recker, 86, of Sun City, AZ, passed away on January 15, 2019. He was born on June 17, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA., and was one of 6 children from parents Clarence and Helen Recker. In his early years, Bill and his family lived in several homes in the south hills suburbs of Pittsburgh, including a small farm in Bethel Park. When his father left for WWII, Bill was just 12 and the eldest son. He took on many responsibilities with the farm and family early in life. At Bethel High School, he met and married his high school sweetheart and life-long love, Evelyn. They were married for 68 years and he never stopped boasting about "my beautiful bride."
Bill is survived by Evelyn and 5 children, Lyn, Kathy, Dave, Ken, and Jeff, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was proud of his family and their accomplishments. They migrated west to Arizona in 1967 where he was captivated by its culture, heritage, and scenery exploring every corner through his job and weekend family outings. He had many passions over the years. Bill was a music lover, hunter, photographer, glider pilot, dog lover, and salesman. He often joked about wanting to be a Viking or Cowboy when he grew up. With the exception of his family, Bill was most passionate about cars. His life was filled with car races, car shows, and restoring old MG sports cars. He enjoyed annual car shows and vintage races at Watkins Glen, Road America, and his favorite, Laguna Seca, where he visited Monterey/Carmel/Pebble Beach almost 40 times.
Bill had high integrity, values, and standards. He was kind, fun, handsome, charismatic, and honest, but most of all, a great family man. He will be missed by many.
A gathering will be held at Sunland Memorial Park 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351 on February 16, 2019 at 1:00pm.
