Colin Campbell Primrose

July 24, 1924 – August 26, 2026

Colin C. Primrose, World War II veteran, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at the age of 102.

In 1942 Colin proudly joined the United States Navy. He served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class and was stationed in North Africa at Port Lyautey, now known as Kenitra, Morocco. During his service, Colin served as a gunner aboard a PBY aircraft, searching the waters for German submarines. His service during World War II was an important part of his life and a source of pride for his family.

Colin and his first wife, Elizabeth "Betty," shared many years together and raised three children: Mercedes Tank (Thomas), Colin Jr. (Kathleen), and Beverly Brinker (Jerrold).

Colin was later married to his second wife, Donna.

His family grew to include ten grandchildren: Fred Garlick; Daniel Garlick (Silvana); Tricia Godlewski (Michael); Graham Tank (Naomi); Trevor Tank (Stephanie); Michael Primrose (Renee); Matthew Primrose (Crystal); Hallie Primrose (Clark); Eric Schmoll (Kaitlin); and Beth McGorty (Mick). Colin was also blessed with 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

In 1955 Colin and Betty moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he began working for Alcoa as an engineer in quality control. In 1979 he was transferred to the Alcoa plant in Vernon, California, where he eventually retired.

After retirement Colin and Betty moved to Sun City West, Arizona. There, they enjoyed many wonderful years together and embraced the pleasures of retirement, friendship, and community.

Colin was a Mason for more than 70 years. He was a member of El Koran and enjoyed playing the glockenspiel. He was also a proud member of the Elks and served as Grand Exalted Ruler during his years with the organization.

Colin loved life—and he lived it fully. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, parties, meeting and spending time with people, golf, baseball, and of course his Scotch. He had a zest for life and an appreciation for the people and experiences that made each day special. His longevity was remarkable, but perhaps even more remarkable was the enthusiasm with which he embraced his 102 years.

Colin was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Alexander Primrose; his first wife, Elizabeth "Betty"; his second wife, Donna; his son, Colin Jr.; his brother, Alexander; and his sister, Louise.

He leaves behind a loving family and a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by generations to come. His stories, laughter, friendships, and love of life will continue to live on in those who knew him.

May Colin rest in peace and enjoy reconnecting with all of his beloved family and friends in the hereafter. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
