Daniel A. Kuhlin passed away peacefully with his wife nearby on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Born in Chicago, Illinois on December 21, 1933 to David and Mollie Kuhlin, he was the youngest of nine children and was predeceased by all of them—David, Raymond, Norman, William, Leroy, Mollie, Ruth and Clara. He is survived by his loving family: Beloved wife Suzanne of 53 years, sons Michael (Trina) and Jeffrey (Tracy) and grandchildren-Bradley, Brett, Arynne, Kamryn and Raegyn and many nieces and nephews. Athletic, he was a state gymnastic champion in high school, claimed a softball .715 batting average and enjoyed golfing most of his life. He was a member of the 11th Airborne Division, and after service, was employed at Victor Comptometer Corporation where he met his wife. With his family, he moved to Phoenix in 1973 and was employed as a technical illustrator at APS. In his leisure time, he was an assistant coach for his sons’ Little League and Senior baseball leagues. He enjoyed drawing cartoon characters, was an excellent calligrapher and played piano. He was skilled at one-liners in many languages and jokingly insisted he was a “master of none”. But one grandson insisted, “Grandpa, you know how to do everything”. He loved attending his sons’ and grandsons’ baseball games, and granddaughters soccer and softball games, concerts and school programs. Dan was a man who loved telling and hearing good jokes and truly believed, “A day without laughter was a day wasted”. And from a granddaughter’s birthday message: “You are amazing and make me laugh. You are kind and help me when I need it. You love me, are there for me, you make me happy. You are my grandfather”. So loved and so missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to American Heart Assn. or Vested Interest in K9s. Graveside service will be at Sunland Memorial Park at 10:00am on October 19, 2018.
