Del is the youngest of six children and the only boy. He played High School Football and graduated in 1945. After High School, Del joined the Military and served as a sergeant in the Illinois Reserve Militia until he was honorably discharged in 1946.
In August of 1949, Del married Betty Lou Dean. They had three children, James Dale, Donna Lynn and Delmer Kirk.
Del started in the oil field as a tool pusher, and then became a driller himself. The job took him and the family all over the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Montana. He also Drilled overseas including Iran, Canada and Mexico.
In 1958, after returning from oversea's, The decision was made to set down roots, so he and the family moved to Arizona originally, but work was scarse.He then packed up and moved on to New Mexico where he opened his own business repairing Commercal Restraunt Equipment. Del-Oco Company provided a living for Del and his family for over 40 years. In 1999, he sold the company and retired moving back to Arizona where two of his children had started to set down their own roots.
Del continued to further his education, including Refridgeration School, Horse Shoeing, Business Law, Electronic and obtained his Masters Gas License. Del was a well educated man and loved to tinker...he could fix or repair just about anything he touched.
Del filled his off time with hobbies which include Bowling, Fishing, Hunting and Camping. Del also has owned many race horses, which started as a hobby and blossomed into a passion.
Del is survived by his wife, Betty, his three children, Jimmy, Donna and Kirk. He also has four grandchildren, several great grand children along with one surviving sister, Wilma and numerous nieces and nephews.
