Stoyke, Donald Victor (1925-2015) 90, died on March 14, in Sun City Az. He was a lifetime union musician specializing in the cornet (trumpet). He played in bands with renowned performing artists: Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and Count Basie Bands. He also played with Broadway musicals and with the Minnesota Symphony. Donald was a Mpls. Public School music teacher and band director. He taught at Southwest High from 1959 to 1978 and at Normandale Community College. In Sun City he played in many dance bands and was the director and music librarian for the Sun City All Stars Band. Donald served in WWII in the Army Ground Forces (AGF) with the Band Unit. Donald is preceded by wife Connie (Sullivan) Stoyke, his two brothers -Robert and Richard Stoyke and his parents, Dr.Victor and Helen (Schmelzer) Stoyke. He is survived by six children: Steven, Douglas, Marcie, Mary, Connie, Donnie, 12 grandchildren and many great-grand children.
