

Doris Ann Hoy passed away on September 30, 2026 while in Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona. She was born December 17, 1934 in Findlay, Ohio to Chester Halson and Mary Mildred (Reimund) Hoy. Both of her parents and her older brother, C. Richard Hoy, have preceded her in death.
Two sisters, Mary Hoy of Sun City, AZ. and Helen (Hoy) Boyle Moody of Cincinnati, OH survive.
A graduate of Findlay High School, Doris briefly attended The Ohio State University, before beginning employment at The Ohio Oil Company, later
Marathon Oil Company, in Findlay. In 1959, she moved to Littleton, Colorado and became employed first by Martin Marietta Corporation and later by Marathon Oil Company where she worked as a log analyst until her retirement.
Doris was a lover of animals, having owned and ridden horses and ultimately, after owning several types of dogs, trained and showed flat-coated retrievers. She enjoyed outdoor activities, taking advantage of her proximity to The Rocky Mountains.
She also enjoyed a part-time cabin in Big Elk Meadows (Roosevelt National Forest), near Lyons, Colorado.
In 2020, Doris relocated to Sun City, AZ to be close to her younger sister, Mary. She was a member of The Church of the Palms, UCC in Sun City and attended regularly.
She enjoyed living independently until she moved into assisted living in July of 2026. After a couple of months, she was transferred to hospice care.
A private service will be held at The Church of the Palms.
