

Dorothy J. Connolly, 94, of Sun City, AZ passed away peacefully in Sun City West on January 15, 2017. She was born in Chicago, IL to Harold and Evelynn Ham. During the Great Depression, Dorothy’s family moved to Valparaiso, IN. In the meantime, Dorothy would go back and forth to La Grange, IL where her aunts lived and finished high school.
Dorothy met the love of her life, Harold Connolly at a dance. He swept her off her feet and they married in 1944 in Chicago. Harold was honorably serving our nation in the United States Army until 1945.
In 1945 their family was started with the birth of their first child. Dorothy and Harold had six children and after the twins were old enough, Dorothy went back to work as a bookkeeper/payroll administrator for several companies.
Right before retirement, Dorothy and Harold moved to California and finally retired in 1982 and moved to Sun City, Arizona which she loved.
In Sun City, Dorothy was very involved with various actives including, Catholic Daughters, playing bridge, ceramics club, volunteered at Boswell Memorial Hospital and painting. She will always be remembered for her love of her family – they were the most important aspect of her life!
She is predeceased by her husband (whom she lovingly called her boyfriend for 61years), Harold; two sons, Robert and John; two sisters, Polly and Shirley; a brother, Jack and a niece, Vivian.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Susan (Jack) Socha, Mary Connolly, William (Carol) Connolly and Jean (Steve) Ivaska; grandchildren, John (Allison) Socha, Karen (Douglas) Sims, Allyson (Matthew) Morrison, Rebecca Below, Kathryn (Aaron) Westbrook, Erin Connolly, Michael (Michelle) Connolly, Tanya Connolly, Lisa (Benjamin) Wilson, Jennifer (Jason) Graybill, John Jr. (Diana) Connolly, James Connolly, Sean (Hillary) Connolly and 23 great grandchildren with another one on the way.
