

Eileen A. (Wirtz) Bloechl, of Sun City West, Arizona passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Eileen was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on October 12, 1932. She graduated from Oshkosh High School and Mount Mary University, Milwaukee, WI. Eileen was employed as a social worker for Catholic Charities in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and later held the position of psychiatric social worker at the Hospital for Mental Diseases at Milwaukee County Hospitals. Eileen was involved in several bridge groups, the 9-holers golf at Worthington Hills and Briarwood Country Clubs. She was a volunteer for the American Heart Association, the Catholic Outreach Center, Daily Adoration at Prince of Peace, and was on the Board of Trustees of Mount Mary University. Eileen and her late husband of 52 years, F. Richard “Dick” Bloechl, were strong supporters of many community services including: the former Sundome Center for the Performing Arts, ASU Gammage, the Catholic Community Foundation, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Mount Mary University. They received the “Spirit of Philanthropy Award” from the Interfaith Community Care. Eileen also supported Benevilla, specifically Wirtzie’s preschool and childcare in Surprise, AZ. Eileen’s hobbies included a lot of bridge and a little golf, but her favorite hobby was keeping in touch with her family on a daily basis. Eileen and Dick had four daughters and one son, Betsy – Lubbock, TX, Kathleen – Sun City West, AZ; Bridget (John) Hunsinger – Portland, OR; Edward (friend Carol) – Columbus, OH; and Mary Bloechl – Raleigh, NC. They had seven grandchildren, Kurt, Kevin (Karin) and Keith Wegner, and Julie, Cara, Lauren and Emily Hunsinger, and one great granddaughter, Kensal Wegner. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Edessa (Dunn) Wirtz, her husband Dick Bloechl, and grandson Keith Wegner. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Wednesday, June 17th, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4818 W. Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West. A reception will follow immediately after the Mass at Briarwood Country Club, Sun City West.
