

She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Elmer and Vivian Hubbard on September 29, 1922. Elizabeth Banker spent most of her childhood in Mohall, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school. She was a 1943 graduate of Bennington College located in Bennington, Vermont. On April 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to John D. Banker in Hoosick Falls, New York. After World War II, they relocated to North Dakota and made their home in Mohall, North Dakota from 1953 to 1984. Mrs. Banker spent 31 years in the community banking business, including 25 years as Vice President of the Citizens State Bank of Mohall, which she co-managed with her husband, John. She was a 1976 graduate of the Midwest Banking School at the University of Wisconsin.
Mrs. Banker was an active pilot for 17 years, with commercial and instrument ratings. She served as president of the North Dakota 99's, a women's pilot organization, and also served as president of the North Dakota Flying Farmers chapter.
Mrs. Banker retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1984 with her husband. While living in Sun City, she was active as a church organist at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Sun City for 24 years, served as president of the Harmony Organ Club and chairperson of the Sun City Organ Club and was an active member of the Sun City Piano Club. Also, she taught Spanish for 6 years for the Sun City Spanish Club.
Mrs. Banker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, of 64 years; her son, Mark Hubbard Banker; her daughters, Susan Banker Cross and Dr. Deborah Banker. She is survived by her son, John D. (Susan Larsen) Banker Jr. of North Oaks, Minnesota; two sisters, Shirley Martz of Bismarck, North Dakota and Barbara Karmiller of Portland, Oregon; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Freedom Plaza independent living chapel, 13373 N. Plaza del Rio Blvd, Peoria, Arizona 85381. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Plaza Del Rio Foundation. Mrs. Banker was very grateful for all her friends and care givers at Freedom Plaza.
