She was born in Welsh, LA, on October 19, 1924. Erma enjoyed being the wife of a career Air Force officer and loved the many cities she made her temporary homes, including especially La Junta, CO, Sumter, SC, and Zwolle, LA, before finally retiring to Sun City.
Erma's first and foremost job was as the mother of three children, raising them to follow in His footsteps.
Erma is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, James E. Smith; and survived by her children, Ginger (Michael) Eisenrod, Carolyn (Dean) Short, and James E. (Lori Harris) Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Ty, Molly, Sadie, Matt, Emily, Trey, Austin, Brandon, Kristina, and Jessica; great grandchildren, Sophie, Stone, Sammi, Alex, Audrey, and Alana. Erma was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for many things, including her Cajun cooking, but especially her outrageous sense of humor.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 am with funeral starting at 10 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 W. Thunderbird Blvd. in Sun City. Arrangements trusted to Sunland Mortuary.
