Fran Married Mike Michael in 1972 where Mike owned & operated Typewriter Sales and Service co. Thru Mike’s business, Fran & Mike were privileged to travel the world, making memories of a lifetime see, doing & making new friends to last forever, while always being so mindful and thankful for the Blessings they had.
In 1979- “One visit” to Sun City, Arizona convinced both Mike & Fran – this was a “piece of Paradise” where they chose to retire & enjoy the wonderful life playing golf, golf and more golf!
Finding a home with Dear & Treasured Friends –
After Mike passed away in 1990, Fran, determined as she was, picked up the pieces and got involved with the Handicapables Club of Sun City, a dear and precious group she loved to help, at one time the club boasted over 200 members – Spending over 20 years with this club, Fran felt the need to spread her adventuresome wings.
Fran was a member of the Quail Run Ladies Golf League – playing a game in which she excelled and loved so much. Fran got involved with starting the Sun Cities Ladies 9 Hole Invitational Golf Tournament hosted at Quail Run Golf Course each year. This event was a huge success filled to (144) capacity with a waiting list each year and still flourishes to this day.
Next came the birth of Fran’s latest child “Sun Cities Ladies Octogenarian Golf Tournament”. Together with Mary Stauffer, they searched out Ladies 80 years young (and will to admit it) to join in and play. The first year they had less that 75 – but – what a success it was. Off and running the following day preparing for the next year. Word spread quickly and it was filled to capacity of 144 ladies with a wait list every year since – Fran never looked back! Fran was able to complete 23 years of this most coveted Golf Tournament in Sun City before stepping down due to health issues.
Always a face at Quail Run, where she continued to do beautification for the flower beds – she dubbed – “mike’s Memorial Garden” – always something fresh and lovely for all to enjoy. 2018 was different – as Fran experimented with “Sweet Potato Plants” with the help of Stec Fray and maintenance doing the planting, due to Fran’s health issues – the plants grew to huge – but also, beautiful in color and full foliage which everyone was able to enjoy all summer – turned out “One of her favorite plantings”.
Fran always referred to everyone as her Treasured Quail Run Family – who meant so much, as they were always her for one another – whomever – where-ever needed!
Fran and Tami thru the years grew closer everyday it seemed – they truly were “Mom and Daughter” – Best Friends Forever!
On Fran’s most recent journey thru health issues:
Bob Watson - Dennis Martin – Debbie Campbell – Diane Creekmore – Dee Dee Strombeck have kept Fran able to be self sufficient – Each one reminding her – “That is what Friends do!”
What a wonderful storied life time of love – joy – happiness – shared with such care – shared with each of you!
One could not be more Blessed!
In lieu of flowers it is asked to have donations made in her name to Hospice of the Valley.
