Born on May 27, 1937, in Des Plaines, Illinois, to Frank and Helen Lueth, Frank’s early years were shaped by his family’s vegetable farms in Bensenville and Gilberts, Illinois. He was a Lifetime Member of the Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers, operating a road scraper with R.W. Duneman Co. and Milburn.
He worked for Meyer Material, filling cement trucks, and in the off-season for Standard Oil, delivering fuel, and for Motorola, plowing snow at O’Hare Airport. For the remainder of his 67-year career, he was considered by many to be the number one blade man for Plote, Inc. Frank was also a farmer. He raised beef cattle and farrowed several sows. Some referred to him as the midnight farmer, because he could be seen out in the fields at night.
In his early years, he was on a minor league hockey team that played at the Polar Dome in Elgin, Illinois. He enjoyed roller skating, golfing, racing, dancing and traveling with his wife in their RV. For 24 years he was a member of the Sun City Garden Club and the Fountain of Life Lutheran Church bowling league.
Frank married the love of his life, Barbara (Szadkowski), on July 19, 1958, and celebrated many milestone anniversaries with family and friends. They raised four children: son Richard (Tammy) and daughters Debby, Sandy, and Gerry. They were blessed with 10 grandchildren: Jenna (Kyle), Tyler, Jami (Joe), Eric (Jenna),
Mallory (Anthony), Derek, Shane (Molly), Bonnie (Trevor), Jessica (Casey), and Kelly (Nick) and 22 great-grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Jan (Bob), aunt Marie, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11:30 am at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City, Arizona. A celebration of life will be held in Illinois in the summer of 2026. Instead of flowers, gifts, or memorials, please consider donating to Fountain of Life Lutheran Church or 4 Paws Cat Rescue in Youngtown, AZ.
