

Glennis Elaine Meyer was born on July 20, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa to Ardis and Samuel Haitz. She lived on a farm with her family in Hornick, Iowa, graduated from Hornick High School in 1943, and Morningside College in Sioux City in 1948. On August 22, 1948 she married Milton O. Meyer and resided with him in Des Moines IA, Minneapolis MN, Louisville KY, Springfield MA, and Royal Oak MI. In 1986, Glennis and Milt moved to Sun City, AZ, and in 2004 to Sierra Winds in Peoria, AZ.
Three children were born: Lanette Luther (deceased), Kirk Meyer of Dearborn Heights, MI, and Keith Meyer of Magnolia, TX. Eight grandchildren survive: Sarah Luther (Ryan), Meghan Meyer, Kirklann Meyer (Centers), Christen Meyer (Simpson), Kara Meyer (Archer), Austin, Paige, and James Meyer. Plus 15 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Abigail, and Katherine Ryan; Noah, Gavin and Emmett Centers; Gabriel Seidzik, Asha Curtain; Penny, Molly, and Sadie Meyer; Evie, Brie, and Scott Archer; and Amelia Simpson.
Glennis taught for two years in Rock Valley, IA, 15 years at St. Mary’s High School, and 9 years at Shrine High School in Royal Oak, MI. She was a positive influence to her many students over the years, and to the many people she interacted with throughout her blessed life.
Glennis is survived by her sisters, Karen Hardy and Judith Worrell, both of Peoria, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Lael Cheely, sisters Winifred Litecky, and Marilyn Pierson, and her daughter Lanette and husband.
