Helen "Nanny" V. Claussen, 91, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2013 in Glendale, AZ. Nanny was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Newark, New Jersey, was a talented painter and singer, and was a nurse during World War II. Nanny was a devout member of the St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Sun City, AZ, where she was a member of their choir since the parish was built in 1979. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, George "Poppi" Claussen, and two of her children, Melinda Harrald and Bruce Claussen. Nanny leaves behind her children, Amy (Von) Burdorf, and Gary (Carol) Claussen. She was blessed to have 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren who adored her very much. Nanny will be loved and missed always, but is now reunited with Poppi in heaven. Visitation will be at Sunland Mortuary from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 11th, and the funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12th, at 10 am at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Sun City, AZ.
