Helen Alyce “Helene” Gumina went home to be with Jesus on May 23, 2016, 42 days from her 103rd birthday. Helene was born July 6, 1913 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, one of three children of Cecil and George Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted Gumina and is survived by her son Arthur Panter, daughter Dorothy Kochler, and grandchildren, Carrie, Lorrie, Matthew and Stacey. Ted and Helene retired in Sun City and in 1989 gave their hearts and lives to Jesus at Grace Bible Church. Ted passed in 1992 and for the next 24 years Helene immersed herself in several civic organizations including the Lion’s Club, the West Valley Symphony, Chorale, and Art Museum. A philanthropist at heart, she loved to give and she loved music. She was energetic, positive, outspoken and hugged everyone she met. Her two favorite pastimes were being with her church family and the West Valley Symphony. A memorial service is scheduled at Grace Bible Church on October 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow. Please come and participate in the celebration of her life.
