

Helen A. Schultz (Thomson) was born November 3, 1924 in Gettysburg, South Dakota to Perry and Margaret Schultz. She attended school in Miller, Pierre and Lead, SD. Helen graduated from the Lead, SD high school in 1942. She worked four years during WWII in Mobil, Alabama for the U.S. Government at Brookley Air Field. Helen married Paul Thomson on June 9, 1946 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lead, SD. They lived in Lead and Deadwood, SD until 1960 when they moved to Rapid City, SD. Helen and Paul were blessed with 3 children: Michael J., Paula M., David N., and 6 grandchildren.
Helen was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD and a member of the Elizabeth Seaton Band, at the church. She worked four years in the school lunch program at West Jr. High School in Rapid City, SD. She worked 6 months for Western Production Oil Co. as a Special Project Supervisor in Rapid City, SD. After Paul’s retirement they moved to Sun City, AZ as the children and grandchildren were then in the Phoenix area. They purchased a home at 10737 W. Brookside Dr., in Sun City, in 1990 and have lived at that address since then. Helen and Paul are members of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Sun City.
Helen is survived by her son Mike (Peg), daughter Paula (Ward) and son David (Brande), all residing in the Phoenix area. She is also survived by grandchildren: Scott Dierks, Derrick Dierks, Melanie LeGendre, Melissa Green, Dan Thomson, Dustin Thomson, Paul Thomson and many great grandchildren.
