Ingeborg Marie Herr

Ingeborg is survived by her spouse, Kurt Fritz Herr; her daughter Debra & her spouse Arthur Rice; her grandchild Krystl Rice.

Ingeborg (Inge) was born in Berlin Germany on August 2, 1928. She grew up and survived World War 2 and had many stories about her upbringing. When she was 20 years old, she left Germany and came to the United States, where she made many lifelong friends. After she arrived in the U.S. she worked as a factory worker for many years. Johnson and Johnson, a car cushion company, a plastic factory and a chocolate factory were just a few of her employers.

On December 24, 1960, Inge met Kurt Herr through a mutual friend in Chicago. He asked her to go on a date on New Years Eve and the rest is history. They married on July 6, 1963 and remained together for 60 years, until her passing.

On May 18, 1965 they welcomed their daughter, Debra. After she was born, Inge became a stay at home mom and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and prided herself in the way she kept her house immaculate.

In July of 1981 they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Although she didn’t really want to move, she ended up loving it and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Some of the things she enjoyed were needlepoint, crocheting, playing Bunco and cards with her girlfriends, and travel. She, Kurt and Debbie went back to visit Germany several times. In addition, they visited many different states in the U.S. She particularly liked going to Laughlin, Nevada with Kurt.

She loved her granddaughter, Krystl, so much and they shared a special bond. She would do any silly thing that Krystl asked of her and they shared so many laughs and memories. Her son in law, Art, would always joke around with her because she loved to laugh.

Later in life, she was challenged by many physical obstacles, but was able to persevere because of her strong zest for life. She will be greatly and dearly missed by all that loved her.

A visitation & funeral service for Ingeborg will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351. Following the visitation & funeral service will be a private committal at Sunland Cemetery Haven of Dedication Crypt.
