As a Debthelper employee Janice was loved by all of her clients and partners. She will never be forgotten. Love to all of her family and friends.

Dear Ol' Aunt Janice!  You will be missed, but not forgotten in so many ways.  I'll never forget being able to visit you for a while when Barb was born, playing with Howdy Doody, on the piano, playing pool and playing with Penny in the backyard.  I also remember visiting you and going with Grandpa Simpson to little league baseball games, riding a tricycle around the block with one of your neighbor's children and to the Christmas parade when Lou Boudreaux was the Grand Marshall.  It was VERY exciting to me when he gave that special wave to you and me.  I'll never forget the scare I threw into you when I was playing with Penny, ran into the stone bird bath in your back yard and you had to rush me to the doctor's office with blood flowing down my face.  It really didn't hurt at all.  Penny was such a wonderful dog, we even named our first dog Penny.  I also remember the big fat ceramic cowboy in the kitchen that was always full of fresh baked cookies.

Years later, I had the chance to student teach at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, so of course I had to stay with my Good Ol' Aunt Janice.  I remember the wonderful time we had watching sports with Uncle Buck and our nightly ice cream sundae and homemade cookies just before bed.

I also remember visiting you in Sun City when we were in Arizona with Ryan, while he was out there marching with his high school marching band in the Fiesta Bowl parade and introducing you to Ryan and Jordan.  They were quite impressed with you after dinner, but then of course you sealed the deal with that box of homemade cookies. 

Finally, I had the pleasure of visiting your beautiful home in Sun City where I had the opportunity to bring you up to date on my family; while showing pictures, particularly of Ryan in the military and Jordan with his lovely bride Sarah.

Thank you so very much for being the wonderful sister, daughter, wife, mom and aunt that you always were.  I'll never forget your positive attitude, the amazing example you always set and the hug we shared when I left Sun City for the last time.  Thank goodness I've outgrown the need for home baked cookies, but I still miss you Aunt Janice and will never forget you.  Surely God will continue to bless you and allow you to rest in peace.

God has a beautiful new flower in His garden.  You will always be remembered with love.

(Martha) Janice Simpson Kinney was a long-time resident of the Sun City area.
Born in 1917 in Johnston County, IL, Janice was the daughter of Larkin H. Simpson and Maude Mae House Simpson.  
As a young woman she sang with a band in the Chicago area.  She worked hard throughout her life and held various secretarial positions in the Chicago area, where she worked until her retirement. Along with her loving husband, Leland B. (Buck) Kinney, she retired to Sun City in 1977 where she enjoyed the sunshine, warm weather and gardening.
Janice loved cooking and always had homemade cookies on hand for family and visitors.  She enjoyed playing bridge and socializing with her dear friends. She particularly enjoyed dancing and was an active member of the Sun City Steppers dance group for many years. She continued to dance at weekly Tea Dances in Sun City even into her 90s.  Janice had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and never had an unkind word for anyone.
She is survived by her only sister and brother-in-law, Melba Simpson Fones and Ted Fones; her son Jeff;  two nephews, David Fones (Susie) and Father Michael Fones, O.P.; and her niece Barbara Fones Logelin (Thomas).

Our prayers for the repose of the soul of our dear sister and sister-in-law are offered with love.

What a wonderful aunt you were!  We always knew that you'd have fresh baked cookies when we visited.  I have so many special memories of holidays spent with you when I was a kid.  You always remembered your niece and nephews on their birthdays. Your kindness will always be remembered.  May God hold you in the palm of His hand.  You will be forever in my heart.

Peoria, AZ (Martha) Janice Simpson Kinney, a long-time resident of the Sun City area, died Tuesday the 13th of November 2012 at Family Matters II Healthcare Center in Peoria, AZ.
