Jean was born in Warren, Ohio and moved to Arizona in 1994. She retired from Packard Electric in 1976 after 30 years of service. Jean loved to roller skate as a young girl. In retirement Jean enjoyed bowling, golfing, puzzles, painting and volunteered with “Meals on Wheels”. Jean was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Warren, Ohio, where she held many different offices including Deaconess and belonged the Winifred Daugherty Circle. Upon moving to Arizona Jean became an active member of the Palm West Community Church. Jean and her husband Ben enjoyed the Arizona winters and spent their days bike riding. Jean also became an avid fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks, rarely missing a game on TV.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Spencer, her daughter Carol Curtis and grandson Matthew Spencer. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Spencer (wife Helen) of Cortland Ohio, her grandson Marc Rasor (wife Julie) of Phoenix, Arizona, granddaughter Cynthia Shively (husband James) of Carefree, Arizona, granddaughter Bethany Spencer (husband Nitin Natarajan) of Arlington, Virginia and grandson Jeramy Curtis of Menifee, California. Jean also had 6 great grandchildren, Amanda Shively of New Orleans, Louisiana, Rachael Shively of Carefree, Arizona, Ashlyn Rasor and Jason Rasor of Phoenix, Arizona and Kiran and Sonia Natarajan of Arlington, Virginia.
Jean was a devoted Christian woman of both great faith and generosity.
Services for Jean will be held at Sunland Mortuary located at 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona on Saturday March 9th. Viewing will begin at 10:00, services to follow at 11:00, Interment at 11:45.
