Jo Elaine Johnson, a resident of the Arrowhead community in Glendale, died Saturday the 10th of March peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.

Born in 1945 in St Louis, MO., and later relocating with her parents to Long Beach, CA. She graduated from Saint Anthony High School in Long Beach CA., and met the love of her life at the young age of 18. Jo married Richard Johnson a young Marine in 1966 and started a family that would fill her life with joy for the rest of her life. Jo spent time throughout California raising her children and working as an elementary school teachers assistant. She had a gift to inspire young minds that came natural. In 1996 Jo retired from the school district of Porterville, CA and moved to Glendale, Arizona.

Jo loved spending time with her family often cooking their favorite meals and enjoying warm conversations. An avid baseball fan she was well known for attending many spring training games and was a season ticket holder to the Diamondbacks for many years. She had a wonderful sarcastic sense of humor that everyone recognized and appreciated. A Servants heart best describes Jo Elaine. She was always putting others needs before her own, a generous kind soul that will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years of marriage Richard Johnson, her beloved children Michelle Johnson, Travis Johnson, Jodi Lopes and three grandchildren that were her pride and joy Tyler Macias, Megan Lopes, Lauren Lopes. Also survived by her was her brother David Novosal of Long Beach, CA and Lois Novosal of Phoenix, AZ.

Jo Elaine and Rick became my friends upon meeting them in Porterville, Ca. in 1983. Never to be forgotten are the many happy times spent at their home with them and their children, Michelle, Travis and Jodi, a place where I always felt so welcome and comfortable. Jo was a kind, selfless soul, very down to earth and genuine. Now, 35 years later, those memories remain fresh in my mind and warm my heart.

Jo was my Aunt. Though we live out of state and didn't spend too much time together, the times we did spend I truly cherish. I absolutely loved her personality and sense of humor. She always made me laugh. She will be greatly missed. We love you Jo. Rick and family we love you and your in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless,

Rick and Jo our neighbors here in Glendale Arizona for about 10 years great people.. we both always enjoyed Jo stopping by and sharing family events and bragging about the grandchildren (just a little jealous) she was a very kind woman due to illnesses we couldn't make it to the funeral but our thoughts and prayers were there..

Jo was our neighbor! Loved her sense of humor and have thought of her over the years, since they moved to Arizona.

Jo would pop in for a quick visit and pop up and be gone!

She will be missed and Rick and kids I am so sorry for your loss. Blessings and prayers for you all!
