Joann May Sauter

Joann May Sauter, 89, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022. She was born on February 19, 1933 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, the daughter of Emil and Alfreda (Tudi) Wavra. She attended school in East Grand Forks and graduated from high school there in 1951. Joann married Robert Sauter and enjoyed 48 years of marriage before he passed away in February 2018. She worked in a variety of positions over the years in banking and as a cashier until retiring from her favorite position with Circuit City. She enjoyed time with friends and family, baking, playing cards, watching sporting events (especially basketball), and traveling. In recent years, she was also an active member on the board of her retirement community. Joann is survived by son Timothy (Karen) Chalmers, daughters Erin Harper and Bobbi (James) Grunert, four grandchildren: Cole Chalmers, Kade and Seth Grunert, and Katelyn (Chris) Miklethun, and one great-granddaughter, Jayde Chalmers. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Faye and Jean, brothers: Lyle, Don, Dale and twin brother, Jack. Joann was always generous, loving and kind. She will be missed tremendously but will forever be in our hearts!
