He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. John married Betty (Wood) Moir on July 3, 1941.
John will be missed by his wife of 73 years, Betty Moir; daughter, Gail (Mike) Kelley of Farmington, New Mexico; son, Alan (Kathy) of Royal Oak, Michigan; daughter, Nancy (James) Harrison of Glendale, Arizona,; and son-in-law, Todd Bigelow of Belton, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Bigelow on February 23, 2015; brother Merton Sparks, and sisters, Dot McDaniel, Verlyn Reum, and Lois Hovingh.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10 at Sunland Memorial Park Cemetery-Lakeside Ossuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd. in Sun City, Arizona. Reception following at Sunland Mortuary.
