John Henry Novak

John Henry Novak, age 81, passed away on November 15, 2015 in Peoria, AZ. He was born on February 10, 1934 in Clarkson, NE to Emma and John Novak Sr. Married to Merry Jo (Ward) Novak on February 6, 1960 in Kansas City, MO. John and Josie would remain devoted to each other for the next 54 years.

He served in the U.S. Army and reserves from 1958 – 1964. John graduated from Westport High School, Kansas City, MO, Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO and post graduate at University of Missouri, Columbia, MO.

Throughout his life John was a member of a variety of different organizations, including Alpha Phi Omega, Tau Kapa Epsilon. He was an accountant at General Motors (Chevrolet), Western Electric, AT&T-Lucent and H&R Block.

He loved reminiscing about his & Josie’s trip to Europe and their cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean. John was a devoted Christian and was a former member of both Glendale Christian Church and Northwest Christian Church and a current member of Sun City West Christian Church.

John is survived by his two sons Kent Novak (wife Carol Paasch/Hartman) of Buckeye, AZ and Dale Novak (wife Vicki Kilbourn) of Phoenix, AZ; his 7 grandchildren Ashlee, Sarah and Hannah Novak of Green Bay, WI, Kayla and Luke Novak of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew Paasch/Hartman of Fort Worth, TX, and Dylan Hartman of Buckeye, AZ; one great grandchild Keira Paasch of Ft. Worth, TX; brother Lumir “Stan” Novak; and sisters Mary M. Deain and Agnes A. Corbin.

He was preceded in death by his wife Merry Jo Novak; parents; sisters, Anna Janecek and Emily Spencer; and brother James A. Novak.

Services for John will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2015 beginning at Noon for visitation at Sun City West Christian Church, 20803 N 151st Ave, Sun City West, AZ 85375. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm at church. He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, AZ.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Sun City West Christian Church, 20803 N 151st Ave, Sun City West, AZ 85375. Condolence cards may be sent to Kent Novak, 3164 N. Springfield St., Buckeye, AZ 85396.
