John "Michael" Scheffer, age 78, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025. He was born in Akron, Ohio on April 8, 1946, to Burdette and Ella Scheffer. He graduated from the University of West Alabama in 1969. Mike earned his CPA Certificate and worked in the industry for 30 years before retiring in 1999. He and his wife, Sharon, have called Arizona home for the past 26 years.
Mike was an incredible husband, loving father, and grandfather. He brightened every room he entered with his wittiness, humor, and love for life. Mike enjoyed many hobbies, to include playing in his senior softball league and holding the coveted title of Equipment Manager in Sharon's Line Dance Class. He also loved doting on Sharon, and watching Jason and Angela create families of their own and excelling in their careers.
Mike was also an avid lover of sports cars and was a member of and served as Treasurer of the Viper Club. He took great pride in his blue 2009 Dodge Viper ACR with the signature black racing stripe. Though his license plate "It's QK" reflected the muscle and speed of the Viper, Mike "mostly" obeyed all traffic and speed laws.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Burdette, mother Ella, stepmother Betty, and brother William. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon of 53 years, daughter Angela (Joe) Ritchie of Boerne, Texas; son Jason (Jean) Scheffer, and grandson Jason Jr. of Cape May, New Jersey; brother Robert of Fernandina Beach, Florida; niece Susan Milligan and great nephew Zack of Jackson Beach, Florida; and sister-in-law Evelyn Waddell of Barberton, Ohio.
A celebration of life for Mike will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Families Residence: Please contact family directly for address.
