

Jude dedicated more than 35 years to the City of Phoenix Water Department as a Civil Engineer. Following his retirement, he continued serving the City as a private contractor
He embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in the simple moments. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed many rounds of golf, and loved escaping to his second home in Payson, where he found peace and relaxation. He looked forward to monthly breakfasts with his fellow retirees, affectionately known as the "Water Dogs," sharing stories, laughter, and lifelong friendships.
Above all, Jude treasured time with his family. He cherished Sunday family dinners, proudly attended his grandchildren's high school events, and created countless special memories during simple outings' to Starbucks or IHOP or Olive Garden. He created memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Jude will be remembered for his kindness, his quiet generosity, steady presence, gentle sense of humor and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
Jude is survived by his daughters, Diana (McDonough) Belec and her husband, Gary; Christina McDonough and her husband, Jim Munson; and Joyce (McDonough) Barbano and her husband, Rick. He is also survived by his stepsons, Scott Johnston and his wife, Tina, and Steve Johnston and his wife, Kathy.
He leaves behind his grandchildren: Nicole (Barbano) Goodwin and her husband, John; Jude Barbano; Scott Johnston; Kirk Johnston; Derek Johnston and his wife, Samantha; Brent Johnston; and Valerie Johnston; and two great-grandchildren, Mark Johnston and Luke Johnston.
Jude is also survived by his sisters, Karen Vogl of Brookings, Oregon, and Mary White of Kenai, Alaska; and his brother, Glenn John McDonough of Edmond, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie McDonough; his parents, Glenn and Fern McDonough; and his sisters Connie Garrett and Patricia Patton.
Funeral will be on August 15th, 2026 at 9:30 AM at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 North Del Webb Blvd, Sun City AZ 85351. Interment to follow immediately at Sunland Memorial Cemetery, 15826 North Del Webb Blvd, Sun City AZ 85351. Celebration of life will be held immediately after interment at Sunland Memorial Park with light refreshments. ***Please note Casual attire, no tie.***
