Karen was born on August 23, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Earl Andreas and Virginia Andreas (Lydon). She lived a life defined by compassion, service, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and the Lord. She married the love of her life, Joe Legamaro, on September 21, 1963, beginning a lifelong journey of partnership rooted in faith, family, and commitment. Never was that more evident than in the last two months.
A woman of extraordinary heart and purpose, she served as a hospice volunteer for 25 years and was an ordained minister, sharing comfort, wisdom, and spiritual guidance with countless individuals throughout her life. Seeing that come back to her in her time of need was a reminder to her family to live a life of service to others. She embraced each day with joy — whether taking early morning walks, hunting for treasures while thrift shopping, or enjoying a good meal (she truly loved all food). Christmas was her favorite holiday, a time she filled with warmth and generosity. Her love of turquoise jewelry and joyful outings were just a few of the ways she celebrated the beauty in life. An avid fan of America’s Got Talent and other music shows, she found joy in watching others shine - especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe, and their three sons: Tony, Ron, and Nick. She also leaves behind Tony's wife, Becky, and Nick's wife, Melanie, as well as five beloved grandchildren — Alex, Ryan, Sam, Anna, and Cole. While Cole was not related by blood, she loved Anna’s boyfriend dearly and proudly called him her grandson. Karen is also survived by her two loving sisters, Valerie Andreas Schottel (Stephen) and Sandra Andreas (Mueller), with whom she shared a lifelong bond, her half-sisters, Stacy Andreas Macy and Wendy Andreas Watkins, and her spiritual son, Jeff Tyler, who held a special place in her heart. In addition, she leaves behind many treasured lifelong friends in ministry who walked beside her in service and friendship throughout the years.
Above all, she will be remembered for her deep and unconditional love — for her family, her many lifelong friends in the ministry, and those she welcomed into her heart as her own.
Her life was a testimony to grace, generosity, and joy — lived fully with the Lord and filled with love for all who had the privilege to know her. The family is especially grateful to the dedicated and compassionate team at Desert Winds Assisted Living Community, whose kindness and attentive care brought comfort, dignity, and a sense of belonging to her final two months.
Services will be held on August 14, 2025 Starting at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley. https://hov.org/donate/
