OBITUARY

Kent Monroe Eastman

December 11, 1936May 12, 2019

Kent Eastman, 82, went to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on May 12, 2019. He was born on December 11, 1936 in Binghamton, NY to Harold and Dorothy Eastman. He moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1948, where he met the Chilson family, eventually marrying Cassie Chilson in November 1959. While raising 5 children with Cassie, he attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, and graduated with a Master's Degree in Bible Studies. They returned to Phoenix and he became a successful painting contractor, focusing mainly in Sun City, AZ, in the winters. Summers were spent in Upstate NY, and Great Bend, PA, where he was a steeple-jack and painter there. What a wonderful and fun opportunity for their children....perfect weather year-round and double the friends! So many incredible memories were made! Kent was always very active in the churches they attended and worked for a time at Heart to Heart Bible Church in Phoenix. He had many hobbies and volunteered his time freely. He stayed very active right up until the very last day. There wasn't a person he ever met that he wouldn't help, in whatever way possible. He was truly an amazing man! Kent volunteered many hours a week for years at various sporting events and at Northwest Christian School. He greatly enjoyed attending sporting events for numerous young people and supporting them in their dreams. Kent never missed an opportunity to meet, talk to, and really get to know every single person with whom he came into contact. People say that they felt like they had just met their new best friend in the world. He honestly enjoyed helping others and making them feel special and important. Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Dorothy, brother, Harold Eastman, sister Marilyn Sellars, and sister, Cindi Willing. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Joan) Eastman in NY, sister Phyllis Keefer in Ohio, and a great number of nieces and nephews. His ex-wife and friend, Cassie Stephenson, 5 children - Mark (Diane) Eastman, Shari (Tim) Kissling, Troy (Susan) Eastman, Karen Bac (Mitch), and Brent Eastman. And 6 grandchildren - Ashley (Adam) Coffee, Wyatt Kissling, Justin Eastman, Trevor Eastman, Bailee Bac (Weston Votaw), and Logan Bac. And 1 great-granddaughter, Ellie Coffee, who was the light of his life recently. Kent also has a number of "bonus" grandchildren, who deeply enriched his life. He left behind a legacy of love, faith, character, caring, encouragement, volunteering, and helping as many people daily as he possibly could. What a wonderful testimony of God's love for us! While we celebrate that he is in Heaven, we miss him greatly and he has left a huge void in this world. Funeral services will be held at Happy Valley Baptist Church, 24220 N 43rd Avenue, Glendale AZ 85310, on Sunday, May 19. Viewing will be at 1:00pm, followed by the service at 1:30pm.

Kent was a fixture at Northwest Christian baseball games and an "adopted" grandfather to our family. He was always smiling and up for a conversation. The past three years of watching baseball, sharing stories about his family and his love for the Lord will forever be remembered. He took a personal interest in each of our five children and was always excited for their successes. Kent will truly be missed and your family is in our prayers. God Bless!

Your dad always made me feel special. I remember being at your house and he was giving all of you money so that we could ride the bikes to the store to get some candy or something and he gave me money too! I thought he was great!

Dad, I MISS YOU SO BAD , I actually called you today because this doesn’t seem real and I had a question. You were my go to for any questions I had! I know you’re happy and I’m sure God gave you a new heart! 👍❤️

Thanks for being the greatest dad I could have ever dreamed of having! Thanks for everything you did for me, If I needed something you were immediately there. Thanks for making me laugh at your dry humor. I could be in just a horrible mood or having a bad day, and you walk in the door and say something that I would just crack up at! I don’t think you knew how funny and wonderful you were and how many ppls lives you enriched! Thanks Dad, have fun in heaven! I’m sure you are! I’m sorry I wasn’t here for you, but in LA at Logan’s Graduation! Logan is in Hawaii after graduating , he’s having a blast but misses you, but he knows you’re happy too! Bai and Wes tried to get flights from California to Phx when this happened. Bai misses you so much too, but says you’re happy and with God! Thanks for being the Best Poci they could ever have! I love you dad and I miss you! ❤️ A LOT!

PS - I might come here a lot to update you! I’m not sure if that’s the rules of this memory thing, but I have a lot of wonderful memories of you ! And Dad, I haven’t always been a rule follower even though you were right? :) I love you Dad! Forever and Ever!,,, ❤️💔❤️

We are so sorry for your loss. Praying for you all.
Kent was always willing to serve. He was always there helping at Heart to Heart Bible Church.
He was so helpful when we needed a painter to paint the inside of my parent’s house. That was almost 20 years ago. It still looks great.

Uncle Kent was one of the greatest men I have ever known, so kind and caring. I will miss him.

My Uncle Kent was one of my youngest memories. He was always kind, smiling and didn’t know a stranger. He helped our family through tough times and even helped me secure one of my 1st jobs at Food City. Always made sure I had meat to take home to The family. I saw him lead his family and get his herd to church. He believed in God. And even studied him at length. He was a master painter and a good businessman. He raised some great kids who I lovingly call and am proud to be their cousin. He is one of the few who will be missed and a being you want to spend eternity with. Rest now we got this.
