Kimberly, known o many as Kimmy, was a woman of remarkable strength, warmth, laughter, and generosity. As the first child to her parents and the oldest of three siblings, she embraced her role with love and leadership, always looking out for her younger brothers, Patrick and Peter. She spent her childhood in Lakeland, Minnesota, where she would spend summers riding bikes, chasing her brothers around the yard, and organizing plays for her cousins. She attended Lakeland Elementary, Oakland Junior High, and graduated from Stillwater High School. Kim had a lifelong love of dance and shared that passion by teaching young girls in the Afton area before continuing her education at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts.
After college, Kimberly moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she began a career in property management. She later joined Frazee Paint Company, where she discovered her talent for color and design. With her sharp eye, creativity, and natural ability in sales, she would go on to start her own business, Color Design Development Group, working as an exterior color designer and consultant for commercial properties for over 20 years. Her work took her across the country and around the world, and she took great pride in building something of her own.
More than any professional accomplishment, Kim's greatest joy in life was her family. She deeply desired to have children of her own, and that dream came true when she welcomed her two kids, Alanna and Jonathan Laten, into the world. They were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into raising them. She was also overjoyed to become a grandmother to her beloved grandson, Xilas, who brought her immense happiness.
Later in life, Kim found lasting love with her husband, Thomas Shaw, who remained devoted to her until the end. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and shared experiences.
