Kurt Fritz Herr

Kurt grew up in Frankfurt, survived World War 2 and had many interesting stories about that time. After the war, at 15 years old, he actually got a job with the US Air Force working in their kitchen.

When Kurt was 16 years old, he joined the Frankfurter Rudergesellschaft “Germania” which was a rowing club in Germany. He rowed with the club for twelve years and won dozens of medals which he proudly displayed in his home.

In 1956, Kurt became an electrical engineer in Germany. In 1960 his company transferred him to the United States where he eventually met and married his wife Inge. In May of 1965, they welcomed their daughter Debra.

During Kurt’s time as an engineer, he worked on many special projects, including government projects, and earned several patents. He was able to take early retirement in 1987 at 55 years old, allowing he and Inge to start enjoying their golden years a little earlier.

Kurt was the best father anyone could ask for. He and Debbie were inseparable when he was home. He was always happy to play games, go bike riding, help with homework or do whatever Debbie asked of him. He was also the most wonderful grandfather to his granddaughter, Krystl. Once again, he would do whatever she asked of him, including bike riding, swimming, fishing with clothespins, doing his hair and making up dance performances.

Kurt had a great sense of humor. He always had a joke, pun or humorous story for any occasion. His son-in-law uses a lot of his material to this day. He will truly be missed by all that loved him.

Kurt is survived by his daughter, Debra and her husband Art Rice, and granddaughter Krystl.

Visitation will be held at Sunland Mortuary Chapel of Light, 15826 North Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ, on June 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at Sunland Mortuary Chapel of Light, 15826 North Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ, on June 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Sunland Memorial Park Dedication Mausoleum on June 17, 2026, 1:00 pm.
