Lee H. Shinn, age 87 of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on February 7, 2013. Mr. Shinn was born in Alliance, Ohio on September 2, 1925 a son of Emmer H. Shinn and Marnie Millward Shinn. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1943, and then served in the Eighth Air Force in World War II, flying 28 missions as a B-24 bomber tail gunner. He graduated from General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He was employed for over 37 years at Packard Electric Division of General Motors located in Warren, Ohio.
After retirement he moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1981. He was a member of the General Motors Retirees Club of Arizona, The Engineers Club of the Sun Cities area, and the West Valley Genealogy Society. He was preceded in death by his wife La Verne and his sister Jeanette (Humphreys) Farry.
Mr. Shinn is survived by step-daughters Lanita Reitsma of Phoenix, Arizona and Diedre (John) Forsythe of British Columbia, Canada and a brother Kenneth Shinn of Monroe, Ohio, grandsons Michael (Jolyn) and Timothy Reitsma of Phoenix; great grand-daughter, Natalie; cousin, Eilien Kutinsky; niece, Betsy McNamera and nephews, Randall Shinn, Alan Humphreys and Lee Humphreys.
Cremation has been chosen and a private graveside service for the family will be held at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, Arizona.
